Volunteer

Volunteers are an integral part of making the MS Walk a success. From organizing and setting up the event to preparing and serving meals and cheering on participants as they cross the finish line, there is a job for everybody!

Volunteering is a rewarding experience that allows you to support a great cause while meeting new people, learning new skills and broadening personal experiences.

Positions available

Advanced check-in
Advanced check-in volunteers will greet MS Walk participants as they arrive, review their pledge sheet, provide the participant's qualified prizing items, as well as answer any questions for walk day. 

Bike patrol (Winnipeg)
Patrol a designated portion of the route, working to ensure the safety of the walkers as well as providing additional support to volunteers on the route.
*Good physical health, first aid training, and a bike are required for this position. 

Rest stop
Provide an environment for rest, snacks and encouragement at our designated rest stops! Set up tables and banners, ensure snacks and liquids are maintained and help with take-down.

Committee member
Are you skilled at event coordination or do you have a knack for networking within your community? Or perhaps you enjoy motivating people to get involved in activities? Join the planning committee in your community to help organize the MS Walk! Volunteering with a committee will only take a few hours per month.

Check-in
Be the first face that participants see when they arrive! Greet them enthusiastically, ensure their paperwork is complete, receive their pledges and get them ready for the day. Must be 16+.

Food services
Help feed our hungry participants and celebrate their success in completing the MS Walk! Assist with setup and serving breakfast and/or lunch, ensure the area is clean and food supply is maintained and help with the take-down.

Kids Tent
Assist in facilitating kids activities such as colouring and face painting. 

Maintenance crew
Assist with the final set-up activities on the day of the event and perform a variety of tasks as assigned by event staff.

Parking attendant (Winnipeg)
Direct incoming traffic to available parking lots in an effective and safe manner.

Photographer
Take photos of MS Walk participants and volunteers, team photos, and action shots of the day's events. Your photos will be posted on Flickr for participants to view and some will be used in marketing materials.

Photographer Assistant
Assist with directing and gathering participants for group photos. Ensure that photos are taken of all VIPs on site, and of sponsor signage. 

Route marshal
Encourage walkers as they make their way from start to finish! Ensure walkers are safe, have all their questions answered and cheer them on as they pass you along the route.

Site set-up/takedown
Assist witht he loading and unloading of supplies, hang signage and place supplies as directed. 

Start/finish line cheering
Possibly one of the most fun positions available, you will cheer on participants as they start their walk and as they cross the finish line. Bring your favourite noise maker and your biggest smile.
