Led by the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, Women Against Multiple Sclerosis (WAMS) is a collective of professional women committed to raising research funds to end MS while participating in presenting exclusive and meaningful networking opportunities. Through MS research-focused fundraising, WAMS strives to enable professional and personal growth for Canadian women. Funds raised by WAMS will be directed to a new generation of ground-breaking researchers in their endeavours to end MS.
Canada has the highest rate of multiple sclerosis in the world. MS is a chronic, often disabling disease of the central nervous system comprising the brain, spinal cord and optic nerve. It is three times more likely to occur in women as in men. MS can occur at any age, but is usually diagnosed between the ages of 15 to 40, peak years for education, career, and family building, and the unpredictable effects of MS can last for the rest of their lives.
In addition to raising valuable, important funds towards a cure for MS, the information and support generated from WAMS will empower women with MS to continue living their lives with strength and courage.
