Why We Ride..

To end MS is a cause close to my heart. My patients, our team member (Patrick's sister-in-law) and their families are affected by MS. The stories and struggles they have shared inspired me & our team.

One such story brought me an awareness of MS as I came across a mother who was looking for a massage treatment; hoping to help improve her son’s condition. I didn’t know all the facts so I went home and educated myself about MS.

“MS is currently classified as an autoimmune disease of the central nervous system (brain, spinal cord). The disease attacks myelin, the protective covering of the nerves, causing inflammation and often damaging the myelin. Myelin is necessary for the transmission of nerve impulses through nerve fibres. If damage to myelin is slight, nerve impulses travel with minor interruptions; however, if the damage is substantial and if scar tissue replaces the myelin, nerve impulses may be completely disrupted, and the nerve fibres themselves can be damaged.”

Although this condition has a tremendous effect on the patient’s nervous system; many people with multiple sclerosis (MS) use massage for prevention or relief of muscle soreness, pain, spasticity, poor circulation, and pressure sores. Massage can help relax muscles and enhance the range of motion exercises. It can also give the patient with MS a chance to relax, and relieving anxiety and fear. His story has inspired me and together with our Team Captain; Marc - we registered our MS Bike Team in 2016.

We joined this fight; to raise money; to help improve the quality of life for those who are diagnosed with MS. Hopefully one day this will lead to better control of MS or to the prevention of development of MS and maybe ultimately a cure.

Please consider pledging our team today to help us reach our fundraising goal. Your gift can bring us closer to ending MS.

If you are not able to give any donation, please help us spread the words, educate and raise MS awareness.

Thank you in advance for supporting our fight to end MS. We couldn’t do it without your generosity.
