I am riding in the MS Bike Tour because Multiple Sclerosis sucks and cycling makes me feel stronger and bigger than a stupid disease! I am riding because I live with relapsing-remitting MS everyday. For me, this means I have good days and bad. Some days I feel pretty normal, and others I can lose feeling or function in parts of my body, have spasms, vertigo, pain etc (BORING!). It is incredibly unpredictable and effects everyone in varying ways. But somehow, for me, cycling always makes me feel better. Even if I can't walk properly, I can ride. It is the weirdest, most amazing thing.
I am riding to provide funds for research, advocate for change, help people living with MS and their families and to inform! It is shocking how many people are affected by MS and even more shocking how many people know nothing about the disease. No one knows a whole lot about MS as there is no known cause or cure... YET! But if you have questions, or are curious about what my experience has been, please dont hesitate to ask. When I was first diagnosed I was ashamed and worried about how people would treat me if they knew. I dont want anyone else to feel this way. Let's talk about it.
Proceeds from this event and others like it provide support and services to help those living with this disease, their families and caregivers. They fund research with three primary goals: to find a cause and cure for MS, repair nervous system damage caused by MS and stop MS attacks. Your support makes a difference in the life of someone with multiple sclerosis.
Every little bit helps! Thank you for your generosity and support!
