Pain in the Assiniboine Adventure Race
I will participating in this year's Pain In The ASSiniboine Urban Adventure race on Sunday, June 24th, 2018, and raising awareness and funds along the way.
The Race consists of a Cycle 32km over river trails, single track, park roads and the Trans Canada Trail to Beaudry Park in Headingly, Manitoba. Then I will hop in my kayak and paddle the swift-moving Assiniboine to the finish line at Winnipeg’s most popular landmark, The Forks. A 66km adventure in all, that will take approximately 5-6 hours to complete.
I was diagnosed with Relapsing Multiple Sclerosis in 2003 after a severe bout of optic neuritis left me almost completely blind in my left eye. I remained determined to stay active in spite of MS and the challenges it has thrown my way, and this race combines 2 of my favortie activities - biking and kayaking. The MS Society is a huge support for me, particularly in those early days of newly diagnosed and learning to live with the disease, and now I want to give back and help fuel the search for the cure. Please support me in my efforts to #EndMS!

Brr cold outside!
Spring seems to be slow in warming up this year, even my horse still hasn't shedded out his winter coat yet, this time last year we already had a couple of trail rides in. This means I've been having to hit the gym instead. Been using a "couch to 5K" app to help me with treadmill workouts; I've also been lifting weights. Ugh I would much rather be outside! Can't wait to put the rubber to the pavement and and dip paddle in the water. Training for the #PainintheAssiniboine is underway.
