Team Jenna (In Memory)
April 9th, 2017 marked the one year anniversary of Jenna's passing from Multiple Sclerosis complications. Shelley and I attended an International MS Walk in Seattle and it was therapeutic being out of Edmonton at this time.
We will continue with our 2017 Edmonton Multiple Sclerosis Walk fundraising. We knew our fundraising over the last 3-4 years would not benefit Jenna but we did so because of all the great people we met that may benefit from our fundraising. Team Jenna has raised close to $90,000 over the last 11 years.
As we were being educated through reading and with Jenna’s experiences, it became so abundantly clear how devastating this disease can be. Over the years, we were aware of similar patients who could not control their bladder; their bowels; their speech; etc. and this was all new to us. Eventually all these ailments and more affected Jenna.
For these reasons, we continue with our fundraising efforts. A couple things to contemplate: Canada, as a country, has the highest per capita rate of MS in the world; Alberta has the highest per capita rate of MS in Canada.
MS really shows no favorites. MS is a disease than can affect anyone and through the process weakens and can degrade the person.
Make a difference
We continue with our MS fund raising efforts to find a cure and provide funding for patient care and programs. Team Jenna has grown each year and for this support, we are truly appreciative.
