Honorary Presidents

Portrait-Marco Vernacchia.jpg

After receiving his degree from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Université de Montréal in 2001, Marco Vernacchia practised as a pharmacist for seven years before becoming the co-owner of the Saint-Lazare Pharmaprix in 2008. In 2011, he became the sole owner of the Pharmaprix at 10 Place de la Triade, in Pointe-Claire.

As a community pharmacist, he’s in touch with numerous customers and is very committed to such causes as West Island Community Shares, AMCAL Family Services; he has also supported such groups as the West Island Women’s Shelter. Mr. Vernacchia is also a member of the board of CLSCs Lac-Saint-Louis and Pierrefonds Foundation, and supervises student interns from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Université de Montréal. In his free time, he also composes orchestral music and plays piano!

For three years now, Mr. Vernacchia has chosen to join the battle against multiple sclerosis and support ongoing research on this disease. As part of Pharmaprix’s “Love, You.” campaign and to show his backing for a long-time employee who has MS, he decided to generously support the West Island Multiple Sclerosis Self-Help group. And he has now agreed to be honorary president of the West Island MS Walk.

Perry Giannas.jpeg

Since 2016, Perry Giannias, owner of the world’s largest collection of Montreal Expos memorabilia, has been organizing ExposFest, an activity for baseball-loving families that is held for the benefit of the Kat D DIPG Foundation at the Montreal Children’s Hospital. The funds go to this organization because Perry’s niece, Catherine “Kat” Demes, had a rare cancer called diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG). Since Kat passed away, at age four, in 2015, Perry’s family has raised more than $325,000. Thus, Perry Giannias has combined his love of baseball with this good cause for three years. This year, he also chose to get involved in the West Island MS Walk, and we thank him for that!
