#IChallengeMS 2019: Time to Try-a-Tri
I am raising funds for MS because I am living with MS, and I want to keep-on-keeping-on while I still can.
In 2018 I tackled the Pain in the Assiboine Urban Adventure Race as my I Challenge MS fundraiser, which consisted of 32km of mountain biking followed by a 32km kayak, and finished a respectable middle of the pack in my category.
I am pleased to announce my goal for 2019 and I Challenge MS fundraiser will be to complete my first Triathlon, the St. Malo Try-a-Tri (300m swim, 10km bike, and 2.5km run) on Saturday, July 22. If that goes well, the big goal is to complete a Cross Triathlon in Morden, Manitoba on Sunday, July 14th that will consist of a 750m swim, 13km mountain bike, and 3.8km trail run.
Help keep me motivated to keep up my swim, bike, run training and donate today!

2019 I Challenge MS goals
As much fun as Pain in the Assiniboine was last year, 6.5 hours of mountain bike and kayak racing took a toll on me and some time to recover, so for 2019 I wanted to find something challenging, but shorter. I couldn't find anything with kayaking, but I did spot a cross triathlon - mountain biking instead of cycling, and trail run instead of road race. While I am comfortable in the water, I never really did learn how to do front crawl properly, and running is difficult for me because of the numbness in my feet from MS. So in October I started swim lessons, and if I have to walk the run portion so be it. Now the plan has come together - a beginner friendly novice triathlon in St. Malo, Manitoba in June that consists of a 300m swim, 10km road bike ride, and 3km road run. Then there is a cross triathlon in Morden, Manitoba in July that will consist of a 750m lake swim, 13km mountain bike ride, and 3.8km trail run. Swimming is coming along, and now I can't wait for the snow to go so I can get outside and bike. Watch out Triathlon, here I come!

Brr cold outside!
Spring seems to be slow in warming up this year, even my horse still hasn't shedded out his winter coat yet, this time last year we already had a couple of trail rides in. This means I've been having to hit the gym instead. Been using a "couch to 5K" app to help me with treadmill workouts; I've also been lifting weights. Ugh I would much rather be outside! Can't wait to put the rubber to the pavement and and dip paddle in the water. Training for the #PainintheAssiniboine is underway.
