Happy new year!
After a couple of months of no riding, we finally have my bike up on a trainer. I've joined Zwift and once we have all the pieces - we need the heart rate monitor and the thing that monitors cadence and other stuff - I'll be participating in races and whatnot. For now, I'm using other people's ride videos, like this one. It's a lovely ride between Bristol and Bath in England.
We have been busy but truly lazy when it comes to our health care. It's time to turn that around, especially with only about 7 months to go. It's going to take that long to make sure I can do this ride, physically and mentally.
To that end, I have started yoga and cycling again. We are beginning to eat right again and starting to sleep right again. I have been, with my pain doc, adjusting my meds again to see if we can come up with an optimum combination that allows me to live the best life I can.
This ride will also help that.
I turn 46 in October and the goal is Fit 46. My daughter said, "What does that mean?" Had to think to define it and I'm still not sure. All I know right now is that I want to be at least 30 pounds lighter, 4 dress sizes slimmer and not so dependent on my cane.
I know it's a cliche to start a blog to track progress but I may do that. With my disabilities and this challenge, it may help me keep my head on straight.
So far this week, I've ridden 7.2 miles, that's 11.6km, in 28min 28sec (according to this guy's video). I've done Sun Salutation twice and walked the dog on Monday. (Dog doesn't get enough walks, though she gets a lot of play.) Today I will not do the yoga, because my back is out a bit, but I will do a longer ride. Then I'll go get my shots.
Learning how to do this as I go.
